Effect of grafting on watermelon growth and yield Thai Agricultural
Islam, M. Shahidul; Bashar, H.M.K.; Howlader, M.I.A.; Sarker, J.U.; Al-Mamun, M.H..
Wilt of watermelon especially caused by Fusarium is a common and serious problem all over the world. Grafting with bottle gourd is a unique solution to control wilt of watermelon. The experiment was conducted in the coastal region of Bangladesh with the direct involvement of the farmers. All the grafted watermelon plants remain alive up to harvesting while more than one-third non-grafted plants died from vegetative to fruiting stage. Fruit yield was observed one and half times higher in grafted fields as compared to non-grafted counterparts.

Wealth, Debt, Government Payments, and Yield Performance AgEcon
Girante, Maria Joana; Goodwin, Barry K.; Featherstone, Allen M..
We use a large sample of Kansas Farm Management Association farms for eight different crop/practice combinations (dryland and irrigated corn, sorghum, soybeans, and wheat) for 1994 through 2006 to evaluate the determinants of relative yield performance and explore the ability of financial variables to account for some of the remaining unexplained variation. Our hypothesis is that more financially sound farms should be able to implement better production techniques, thus have better yields. We further test whether decoupled payments can be used to enhance yield performance. Our hypothesis is that payments may be used to boost investment in inputs or equipment that can lead to better yields. Our results suggest this could be the case.

Yield QTL analysis of Oryza sativa x O. glumaepatula introgression lines PAB
Rangel,Priscila Nascimento; Vianello,Rosana Pereira; Melo,Arthur Tavares Oliveira; Rangel,Paulo Hideo Nakano; Mendonça,João Antônio; Brondani,Claudio.
The objective of this work was to evaluate the yield performance of two generations (BC2F2 and BC2F9) of introgression lines developed from the interspecific cross between Oryza sativa and O. glumaepatula, and to identify the SSR markers associated to yield. The wild accession RS‑16 (O. glumaepatula) was used as donor parent in the backcross with the high yielding cultivar Cica‑8 (O. sativa). A set of 114 BC2F1 introgression lines was genotyped with 141 polymorphic SSR loci distributed across the whole rice genome. Molecular analysis showed that in average 22% of the O. glumaepatula genome was introgressed into BC2F1 generation. Nine BC2F9 introgression lines had a significantly higher yield than the genitor Cica‑8, thus showing a positive genome...
